I was recently asked to review the “Fiber of the Month” subscription boxes that Paradise Fibers offers. These boxes are pretty amazing, and so, of course, I said YES, please! My September box arrived shortly thereafter and I want to unbox it with you all! For those of you who are not familiar with the company, Paradise Fibers is located in Spokane, WA and has been family owned and operated since 1997. They also have the *most adorable* sheep logo, ever (which you can spot below in the box!)
The September box was fully themed for fall, with beautiful deep reds, yellows, and purples–of course! I was, first and foremost amazed at the quality and quantity of fiber in this box: 8oz of luxury fibers in two blends: Merino, silk, alpaca, cashmere (!) and Merino, Soy, Silk, and Angelina. Gorgeous. Soft. Fluffy. The box also contained stickers, gluten-free buttermints, and some excellent advice on woolen vs worsted spinning. Each month’s box always contains 8-10oz of fiber, info on new spinning techniques, and never features the same fiber twice! That’s a lot of inspiration and materials for only $34.99!
I was also very happy to see that the fiber was packaged and shipped so that it would not be compacted in the process: the combed top was airy, light, and ready for spinning!
[Please note: I braided the fiber for some of the shots below, but it came to me unbraided and flufftastic!] I have some plans to test out some “Semi” spins with this fiber–PLY Magazine has just released an excellent issue on the topic. In the meantime, I plan to just gaze at all this prettiness for a little while.
If you are interested in getting your own box, check out Paradise Fibers and search for the “Fiber of the Month” box in the upper left hand corner–or just check out all of the cool fiber, wheels, knitting or felting supplied that they stock! Thanks to Bobby of Paradise Fibers for the invitation to check out this wonderful subscription service 🙂
Happy Spinning everyone!
That box looks like so much fun! I don’t spin, but I think I live close enough I could visit and see what knitting supplies they have:)
